Newly-Resurfaced Tennis Courts Open
Officials from the Township and Montgomery County Community College gathered to celebrate the ceremonial grand opening of refurbished tennis courts on the College’s campus in Blue Bell.
A partnership between the two entities allows Whitpain Township’s tennis programs priority use of four of the eight courts while giving students, employees, and the community full access to upgraded tennis facilities, including pickleball courts.
“The College and Township have built a strong relationship over the years,” said Board Chair Scott Badami. “The tennis court project and the Annual Whitpain Community Festival are two examples of our mutually beneficial relationship.”
“We deeply value the longstanding partnership with Whitpain Township,” said Dr. Vicki Bastecki-Perez, President of Montgomery County Community College. “This collaboration expands recreational opportunities and broadens access to wellness-focused activities for our students, employees, and the greater community.”
The total cost of the project was approximately $147,000 and was fully funded by the Township. Relocating tennis operations to the campus allowed the Township to begin construction on dedicated pickleball courts on the site of the old tennis courts at Wentz Run Park. The new pickle ball courts are expected to open in mid-September.
