Pre-Construction Work Begins Next Week At Wissahickon Park
Pre-construction activities at Wissahickon Park are planned to start the week of April 7, 2025. This work includes installation of temporary erosion control measures and the import of additional clean fill to the site.
It is important to note that this initial phase of the project will not include any earth disturbance or excavation. The clean fill will be stockpiled and will eventually be spread across certain parts of the park during future construction phases later this year.
The Township has awarded a general construction contract to MECO Constructors of Bensalem, PA, and an electrical contract to Wise Electrical of Glenside, PA. The Township has an extensive health and safety plan in place for construction that has been shared with the various regulatory agencies.
The Township has also contracted with Montrose Environmental to perform air monitor testing during construction to ensure the health and safety of nearby residents. Please note that air monitoring will occur whenever there is active construction involving earth moving activities. This does not include when clean fill is brought into or moved within the construction site. Air monitoring reports will be posted on the Township’s website on a regular basis.
