Ambulance Service
Ambulance and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are provided by the Second Alarmers Association and Rescue Squad of Montgomery County.
The Second Alarmers was chartered in 1938 and started as a canteen service for fire and police personnel. They have since grown to be one of the largest EMS providers in Montgomery County.
The Second Alarmers handle nearly 12,000 emergency calls a year from 5 locations, including a new station at the Whitpain Township Building that was completed in May 2014. The Second Alarmers protect four townships and three boroughs that encompass about 65 square miles and includes 15 miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
The Second Alarmers do not receive tax dollars from Whitpain Township. The Second Alarmers conduct an annual subscription drive. The Township encourages residents and businesses to support the annual request.
